Pakistan’s Furniture Sector

Pakistan’s export in furniture has remained stagnant due to lack of modern machinery & latest technology. Government of Pakistan is trying its best to improve this rich industry’s potential by emphasizing upon the opportunities for the foreign investors, to develop the industry by the import of modern wood working machines and latest wood processing techniques, working closely with the Pakistan’s furniture industry in near future. The domestic demand for home & office furniture is growing at an annual rate of over 25%. The next decade will see tens of thousands of new apartments and offices coming up every year, requiring to be furnished – a growing opportunity for the furniture manufacturers.


Role of APFEA in Pakistan’s Furniture Sector

The All Pakistan Furniture Exporters Association “APFEA” is playing a vital role in bringing the latest technical know-how in Pakistan to develop the local Furniture Industry for manufacturing quality products competitive with the international market. APFEA held “Furniture Vision 2015” on the Country’s furniture industry during Dec 2006, which proposed setting up of;

• Federal Timber Board
• Furniture Industrial Parks
• Export Display Centers
• Quality Testing Labs and
• Wood Drying Facilities

APFEA laid great emphasis on improving marketing efforts by the Government to promote Country’s exports by more regular participation in international trade shows abroad.
